Support Worker, Colchester

FULL AND PART TIME SUPPORT WORKERS / CARERS REQUIRED

Rate of Pay: £11.00 per hour day shifts and £12.00 per hour waking night shifts

We have an exciting opportunity for Support Workers / Carers to form a new, specialist care team in Colchester.

You will be supporting a gentleman, living in his own home, who has a Spinal Cord Injury and significant respiratory issues.

The Role:

• Assist with all aspects of personal care, spinal cord injury care, tracheostomy care and ventilator care
• Support the gentleman through the re-adjustment of returning to his home and to the community.
• Facilitate rehabilitation and goal planning, with an overall aim of increasing and maximising the gentleman’s independence.
• Achieving positive outcomes
• Support in attending appointments, therapies, social activities and going on holidays.
• Assist with domestic tasks and food preparation on occasions

About you:

• The right candidates will be dynamic, motivated, flexible and reliable; with good interpersonal skills and a good level of communication, both written and oral.
• You must hold a full driving licence and be willing to drive the gentleman’s own vehicle.
• Previous experience of working within complex care would be desirable but is not essential. We will provide you with specialist and detailed training to meet the gentleman’s ongoing needs.

Shift Pattern:

• 12 hour shifts > A combination of day shifts and waking night shifts; 0800 – 2000 and 2000 – 0800
• You will be working within a small team providing care and support all year round, including weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.
